Gleb Bazov

Gleb Bazov joined Ricketts, Harris LLP as an associate in 2010. After completing his law degree at the University of Toronto and being called to the bar, Gleb articled and practiced at a large national firm. Prior to coming to Ricketts, Harris LLP, Gleb spent a year at a commercial litigation boutique. Gleb maintains a general civil litigation practice, with a focus on commercial litigation including contract disputes, shareholders' and creditors' remedies, injunctive relief, fiduciary duties, professional liability, employment law, and professional discipline.

In the summer of 2007 Gleb accepted an internship at the American University in Cairo and spent eight months in Egypt addressing the legal needs and organizing the resettlement of Iraqi refugees that came to the country as a result of the eruption of violence in their homeland. During his time in Cairo, Gleb learned enough Arabic to communicate with the rambunctious Cairene taxi drivers. After coming back to Toronto, Gleb pursued his passion for litigation and the practice of law, including setting up his own legal practice for a period of time.

Gleb has co-written several articles, including contributing to Global Arbitration Review, an international publication on arbitration laws in 42 jurisdictions worldwide, and assisting Harry Underwood and Rene Sorrell with a review of the Danier Leather case, which was ultimately cited by the Supreme Court of Canada in their appeal decision.

Clients are attracted to Gleb’s out-of-the-box lateral thinking. He not only comes up with new solutions to a given problem, but is also able to zero in on the right approach that wins the case either in or out of court. Clients and colleagues at the private bar refer cases to Gleb because they are confident in his ability to achieve results.

Gleb is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2006.
