Martin R. Wasserman
Counsel
The first thing you will notice about Marty is his grin. He smiles a lot! Marty truly believes that he has much to be grateful for, including his children and four grandchildren. During a 45 year career practising business law, he has earned the respect of clients, clients’ advisers, and his legal peers. Many of Marty’s clients are entrepreneurs with family businesses who relish his energetic and affable personality and appreciate the value he adds to their businesses. Marty provides his advice and expertise to clients in respect of many corporate activities, including: buying or selling businesses, financial services, shareholder and partnership agreements, secured transactions, corporate reorganizations, and corporate governance. And because he is viewed by many clients as their “family lawyer”, Marty is often called upon to assist with family estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. Always ready to lend a hand to clients, he will even regale you about the 3 a.m. call he received at home from a corporate client in a police cruiser, asking whether he was required to take a breathalyzer test! A high school algebra enthusiast, Marty still enjoys problem-solving and brings this skill to bear in finding efficient and common sense solutions to his clients’ problems. A theatre and movie buff, you might find Marty in the seats at a local Toronto theatre company production or brandishing tickets to the hottest TIFF film.
